Piñon Pinecone Pendant

$115.00

Handmade sterling silver pendant on a 16” oxidized sterling silver chain. This solid silver pinecone is an exact replica of a cone I collected in the wild.

In many cultures throughout human history, pinecones have been a symbol of spiritual consciousness, enlightenment, and regeneration. The sacred geometry shown in their spiraling seeds was revered by ancient cultures.

Piñon pines take 3 seasons to develop mature cones, so this tiny cone was collected early in the process. The pines carpeting the Aquarius Plateau that I call home are often over 100 years old and grow in fantastical, gnarled shapes due to harsh conditions of high winds and very little water.

Sand casting is an ancient technique where I create a mold using slightly damp sand and then pour molten silver into the mold. I take scraps of recycled sterling silver and melt them down to create each pendant. It is delightful alchemy.
